Mexico in My Heart

Born in 1927 in Lewiston, Maine, Willis Barnstone is one of America's most prolific and highly-regarded translators and poets. He has spent extended periods in Mexico, Spain, France, England, Greece, Kenya, and China, both as a teacher and scholar. A Guggenheim fellow and former O'Connor Professor of Greek at Colgate University and Fulbright Professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University, Barnstone is now Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature and Spanish at Indiana University. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including four Pulitzer nominations, the NEA, NEH, ACLS, Auden Award of NY Council on the Arts, and six awards from Poetry Society of America, including the Emily Dickinson Award and the Fred Cody Life Achievement Award.
