Eleazar and the Messiah

Langbeschreibung
My book presents the four gospels from the perspective of another eyewitness- a man named Eleazar. Eleazar is the Aramaic name for Lazarus who is an historical character in the Gospel of John. I believe, along with a minority of New Testament Scholars, that Lazarus was the principle author of that gospel. As such, he was certainly an eyewitness to Jesus' ministry in Judea and perhaps even Galilee. I tried to write this book by keeping that narrator, Eleazar in the background because I don't want it to read primarily as a first person novel. Actually, I do and I don't. I say that because it is a lot more than an historical novel. At times, it certainly reads like a novel but the scholarly element is always present. I do this be quoting most of the passages from the the four gospels and portions of Acts. All the quotes are in italics so the reader is sure they are from the New Testament. There are also numerous footnotes which are used to explain said passages. Eleazar is basically my sounding board as he reacts to the gospel story. He is actually myself and the reader as we struggle to understand the gospel message and its challenges. My aim in my ministry is to get people to read the Bible, particularly the gospels. This book gives them the opportunity to do that but in a more relaxed and convenient way. My book is not just for Catholics but everyone, regardless of their denomination. I respect all protestant denominations and have learned a great deal from many of them. My approach is that of a scripture scholar where-in I do not espouse a particular doctrine but merely let the words of scripture speak for themselves.
Robert A. Tremmel is a Permanent Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church. I have a B.S. degree in Chemistry and worked as a Research Chemist for over 50 years, authoring numerous patents and articles in the field of electroplating. After my ordination I continued my religious studies by pursuing a graduate degree in New Testament at St John's Provincial Seminary, Plymouth, Michigan and Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit, Michigan. I have taught scripture on a parish and vicariate level for over 40 years and enjoy teaching a great deal. I have previously published two books, "The Four Gospels" and "Words to Live By" . "Words to Live By", a reflection on certain gospel passages, I believe, accomplished my goals. However, "The Four Gospels" did not accomplish what I hoped to achieve. I was too difficult for many of my readers and consequently was not the easy to understand book I had hoped it would be. My new book which I am submitting to you to publish, I believe will be more easily understood. It is definitely a scholarly work but is written to read like a novel. Seen through the eyes of an on- looker , Eleazar by name, the four Gospels come to life. Numerous footnotes guide the reader to a better understanding of the ministry of Jesus Christ. Eleazar, the Hebrew name for Lazarus, is a real person mentioned in the Gospel of John. Through him I can help the reader experience what it was like to walk with Jesus on his journey to the cross and beyond. I have been a Permanent Deacon for 40 years and am currently retired which is technically called "Senior Status". I am still active in my Church, teaching and preaching on occasion, administering the sacraments of marriage and baptism and presiding at wake services and funerals. I am married to my wife Robbie (55 years) and have three children and six grandchildren.
