Drs. Jeffrey Mechanick and Elise Brett are in practice together in Manhattan. They are on the clinical faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine., Jeffrey I. Mechanick, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.E., F.A.C.N., Dr. Mechanick earned his M.D. degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1985 and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in 1988. After returning to Mount Sinai to complete his fellowship training in endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition in 1990, Dr. Mechanick started his private practice in Manhattan in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolic support. Since then, he has become the director of metabolic support and an associate clinical professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Bone Disease at The Mount Sinai Hospital. He continues to care for many patients with diabetes and nutritional disorders, as well as train physicians in endocrinology and nutrition., Dr. Mechanick has authored over 70 scientific publications in endocrinology and nutrition. His research interests are in the fields of parenteral nutrition support, chronic critical illness, and stress hyperglycemia. He is on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and also serves as the Chairman of the AACE Nutrition and Publication Committees. Dr. Mechanick is an associate editor for Endocrine Practice. In addition, he is currently serving as President of the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists, and lectures extensively around the country in endocrinology and nutrition., Elise M. Brett, M.D., F.A.C.E., Dr. Brett earned her B.S. degree from the University of Michigan in 1989 and her M.D. degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1994. She completed her residency in internal medicine in 1997 and a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism in 1999, both at The Mount Sinai Hospital. She was certified as a Nutrition Support Physician in 1998. She has been in private practice in Manhattan in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolic support since completing her fellowship. Dr. Brett is currently assistant clinical professor of medicine at Mount Sinai and trains physicians in endocrinology and nutrition., Dr. Brett has published in the field of general endocrinology, diabetes, metabolic support, and nutrition, and lectures regularly on these topics. She is a past member of the board of directors of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and currently serves on the AACE Nutrition Committee, Diabetes Guidelines Committee, and AACE Self-Assessment Profile Nutrition Subcommittee.
